I’m not an expert on these things but the founding terra and other parts seem to provide a really great base to start a colony from. Fantastic product and customer service from AFS. Great quality and the ants seem to love it, moved in straight away without having to pressure them.
Acrylic lids are blue and not clear as advertised, which obfuscates the view into the outworld and has caused minor issues when feeding or cleaning. But as a short term setup it works absolutely perfectly and would definitely recommend for founding colonies.

The blue on the acrylic is just a film/protector to avoid any scratches during shipping. You can peel this away to show the clear acrylic underneath.

Ive bought three of these,and I have to say they’re brilliant. Very convenient for feeding while not disturbing the nest. These are also modular in themselves,where the feeding/water compartment is detachable from the nest,via magnetic connection. I do recommend getting a test tube adaptor,but check sizes of empty test tubes before fitting live colonies. As some are a little too big and may need to adjusting.

absolutely brilliant founding nest I bought 5 currently housing 3 M. barb queens with nanitics, a c.nicobarensis with nanitics and my C.fedtschenkoi who sadly ate her brood in shipping but has since laid a new batch 😅 only reason for the 4 stars is the amount of movement needed to remove the feeder bottle it would be nice if it was magnetic like the water towers, and a option for a multi chamber nest of the same size but with 2-3 chambers would be great for harvesters and ants that like to sort their brood based on humidity etc
