The Founding Terra Advantage: Say Goodbye to Test Tube Frustrations

While the test tube method has its merits, managing feeding and hydration can be challenging. Transferring queens to new tubes as water depletes adds unnecessary stress. The Founding Terra directly addresses these issues, making the founding process significantly smoother, especially for semi-claustral queens who require feeding from the start.

 

Easy Assembly and Setup:

  1. Carefully peel off the protective film from all acrylic components.
  2. Using the provided screws and Allen key, securely attach the nest acrylic pieces together, placing one screw in each corner.
  3. Attach the handle to the outworld lid by inserting a screw through the designated hole on one side and into the handle.

 

Maintaining Hydration is Simple:

  1. Locate the hydration port in the top corner of the nest.
  2. Gently fill this port with fresh water. You’ll observe the plaster absorbing the moisture, creating a humid environment within the nest.
  3. Remember that ants can drink directly from the damp plaster, and the hydration also regulates humidity levels.
  4. We recommend refilling the hydration hole approximately every two weeks, but observe your colony’s needs and adjust accordingly. Avoid overfilling, but if it happens, a small piece of cotton wool can help absorb excess water.

 

Seamless Colony Transfer:

  1. If your queen is currently in a test tube, use the magnetic connector to attach it to the Founding Terra’s entrance port.
  2. Place the setup in a dark and undisturbed location to allow your queen to move into her new home at her own pace.
  3. Once she has relocated, detach the test tube and connector and replace it with the provided magnetic blank to securely seal the nest.
  4. Congratulations! Your founding queen is now in her ideal environment. Simply keep the liquid feeder bottle replenished and use the outworld for easy feeding.

 

Important Note on Outworld Usage:

The outworld is designed for the initial convenience of feeding founding colonies. Due to the small size, even with barriers, determined ants may eventually find ways to escape. Once managing the outworld becomes challenging due to escapees, it’s a clear sign that your colony is growing and ready for an upgraded outworld!
